Help your website look exactly how you want it.

When you hire us to design your website, you’re trusting us to create your brand’s image in the eyes of your customers. We want to make sure we get it right the first time, so it looks just the way you’ve imagined.

Simple Commenter is a website design feedback tool that allows you to log in and leave comments on your site for us to view and make changes. Once the first draft of your site is done, we’ll send you a link to leave us comments so you can let us know what changes you need made, from small grammar fixes to image changes and more.

How do I use Simple Commenter?

We’ve set up a tutorial with some FAQs for new users, since we know using the Simple Commenter portal can be tricky.

Scroll to start from the beginning, or click the link to the step you’d like to skip to on the right.

How do I log in?

To log into the portal, visit simplecommenter.com/app and enter your site URL and the email you use to contact us. (If you don’t know your URL, don’t worry! We’ll send you an email, either with your URL or a link to log in as a guest.)

NOTE: we have to set up an account for you to use the Simple Commenter portal. Don’t try to log in until we’ve given you the all-clear!

How does the portal work?

After logging into the portal, you’ll be sent to your dashboard. There won’t be much here, so all you need to do is click Visit Domain at the top of your screen under the Comments label. This will take you to your website, where there will now be a module visible at the bottom of your screen.

Don’t worry—your site visitors can’t see the module! It’s only visible to users who access your site through the Simple Commenter dashboard (so, just you and us!)

What do all of these buttons do?

When you view your site through the link in the dashboard, a little module will show up at the bottom of your screen (usually the right-hand side, but we may change your settings depending on what’s already on your site).

There are 5 buttons in this module. The bottom bar with 3 buttons changes your viewing mode.

  • The left-most button turns off comments and lets you browse normally. This is the default mode (top photo).
  • The middle button turns on see comments mode. If there are any comments on your site, they will appear as small bubbles on the screen when this setting is turned on (bottom photo).
  • The right-most button turns on add comments mode. We’ll get to that in a second!

What about the other two buttons?

The buttons above the mode bar are Who’s Commenting? and All Comments. These buttons help you (and us) navigate through comments once they’re on your site.

The person icon (Who’s Commenting?) allows you to view your own profile. If you want to switch to “Incognito Mode” and leave anonymous comments, this is where you’d go.

The speech bubble icon (All Comments) shows all of the existing comments on your site. There are two tabs—comments on this page, and comments on all other pages. Here you can click View Comment to jump directly to the comment on the page, or Resolve comments quickly.

How do I leave a comment on my site?

This is where that Add Comments mode comes back in! Click the right-most button on the bottom bar, then click anywhere on the page to leave a comment. Be specific—if you want us to change an image, click on that image. If you want us to fix some wording, click on that paragraph, and so on.

You can add a title and descriptive text, and attach images or annotations to help us understand exactly what you’re looking for.

Can I reply to comments?

You can reply to your own comments, teammates, or us! Likewise, if we’re confused about one of your comments, we’ll leave you a reply asking to follow up.

To reply to a comment, just click on the bubble representing that comment, then click Reply on the bottom bar.

What do I do if a comment isn’t necessary anymore?

Usually, once we’ve fixed the issue your comment was about, we Resolve your comment. However, if we forget or you decide you no longer agree with your comment, you can click the Resolve button next to the Reply button to take it off the dashboard and out of the All Comments tab.

Is that really all I need to do?

Yep! Simple Commenter is exactly as the title states…simple!

Now that you’ve left comments on your site, they will show up on your dashboard. If you have more changes or want to check up on how we’re doing with your site, log in through the dashboard to see the module on your site again!
