I’m proud that I have a paperless office. In fact, some of my clients have called me because they had a problem “printing off” material that I’ve sent them. When this happens, I revert to an ape-like state, scratch my head, and mumble “print….ing….???”
But since not everyone loves saving trees and postage as much as I do, I do have to occasionally print or scan a document. So I’ve got my handy-dandy all-in-one Brother that I just love.
But today, my day started out rather unusual. Rather than booting up my trusty PC to happy Facebook messages and a slew of weekend email, a giant, red “document jam” notification appeared on my desktop.
I was rather perplexed, since I hadn’t printed or scanned anything in days.
Upon further investigation, I found this (see photo below):
Not only did my cat knock over her food dish – but she managed to hit a button on the printer that caused the machine to attempt to feed a piece of paper into the scanner. It did not succeed, of course. But the printer did manage to eat enough pieces of cat food that I had to dig numerous bits out of it’s nooks and crannies for over 1/2 an hour. I used a vacuum, a can of air, pliers, and an “oh hell, if I break it I’ll just fix it” attitude. I even had to hold it upside down and shake it to get the final two pieces to fall out of the rollers in the document feed area.
But honestly, how can you stay mad at this face…
